The 7 things do NOT do with a Cabin Crew

There is nosecret about Cabin crew or maybe some people call them Flight attendants or air hostesses , as most of us we saw the crew walking in the airport with their trolley bag or maybe one friend who works as cabin crew, so

1- Never stand up when Seat belt sign on:

Some seem obvious but still the customers stand up to stretch their legs when the seat belt sign is On , or also as soon as  the aircraft touches the ground most of them stand up to get their bags, the plane has not reach its stand and come to a complete stop before you are allowed to remove your seatbelt, it could be a sharp break,

2- Never smoke onboard please, Not Allowed :

Smoking is obviously not allowed onboard the plane, in addition to create a fire it can harm other passengers, it has the potential as well go clog the aircraft’s pressurisation valves, maybe you think no one will smoke everywhere there are smoking signs on the plane, there is a Public Announcements, but if i tell you how many times we caught them, once i remember one  group of people went one by one to smoke in the meddle of the aircraft with separated seats after we finished the service, the light was off, people sleeping the time we were busy at the galley cleaning and securing it, one crew from business class came to help at the back smelt cigarettes we found them , security took them after landing.

And I remember that all the passengers standing fell on each other, and this incident led to another problem passenger’s injuries and disembarkation delay.

3- Don’t fight with other passenger:

Stressed, panicked passengers and nervous passengers are not strangers on flights, in general people get very anxious before their flights, once one passenger accused other passenger that his bag was stolen, and his phone was missing, at that time we were still on ground, the crew tried to calm him down and helped him to look for it, we delayed the flight cause this passenger refused to fly if his belongings are not with him, security came and solved the problem, we had a delay of one hour, the other passengers were not happy as well.

4- Clean up you own mess please:

One of the most  reasons for delays is due to teams having to clean up after messy passengers on a flight they can’t finish on time.

Hand your rubbish to flight attendants when they come around with bin bags for collecting, and it’s at least four times during the flight, it is the correct time to get rid of any waste so please don’t hand a flight attendant any rubbish when they are trying to do other important tasks during securing, for example prepping the cabin for take-off or landing, set a precedent for your fellow passengers by keeping the toilet as clean as you would like to find it, don’t leave paper towels out on the surface of the toilet, the bins close automatically for a reason, and leaving anything on the surface is a fire safety hazard.

When the cabin crew doing their duties doesn’t want to handed anything unhygienic .

After landing even the passengers can not walk through the cabin with their bags due to this mess.

5- Never disrespect the cabin crew :

The flight attendants are onboard to ensure safety before the service and are there to ensure the comfort of the passengers during the flight.

Please treat them with respect and politeness. Refrain from poking and touching them when they are doing their duty.

We have a regulation to protect them from this behaviour, they can tie the passenger with permission of the captain and handle him to the security on arrival.

6- Never excessive the consummation of alcohol:

When the passenger wants a beer or a glass of wine to relax and enjoy flying, excessive alcohol consumption can lead to disruptive behaviour and disturb others. More importantly, the alcohol affects individuals differently at high altitude, so be mindful of your intake.

The cabin crew has the authority to refuse and limit more alcohol services.

7- Overuse the call button during the flight:

You have to know when and why we use the call bottom, cause it is there for emergencies or when you need assistance, if you see a fire outside of the aircraft if the passenger next to you stops breathing or is choking, so stop overusing it for a cup of tea or a snack, and stop using it for non urgent requests, instead, just approach the cabin crew in person and request.

Remember always flying is a shared experience, and respecting the rules and fellow passengers is essential for a safe and pleasant journey. By avoiding these seven behaviours, you can contribute to a more enjoyable, pleasant flight for everyone on board, including the hard working cabin crew who are dedicated to your safety and comfort.

Safe flight.
