The Best American foodies excursion (North)


As I continue my culinary journey across the continents, today we will be making a stop at The Best American foodies excursion( North America). This region offers a wide variety of delicious foods to try. I have gathered the main and most famous dishes in North America for you. These are just a few examples of the diverse and delicious foods you can find in North America. Each region has its own specialties and culinary traditions to explore!

1. Burgers and fries: 


Burgers and fries, the original story of burger is from Germany and fries from Belgium  when the immigrants came to America, they brought these dishes with them, but with time they added the American touch, “the classic American meal of a juicy hamburger served with crispy fries”, is loved by many and has become unique.


2. BBQ: 


BBQ
, North America is famous for its barbecue, the history of the word barbecue goes back to the indigenous people of North and South, S, the Spanish word barbacoa was used by Tainos who occupied Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Cuba, and Barbacoa was used to describe the slow-cooking meat over an open fire. 

The barbecue is nicely prepared in different regions offering their own unique styles of smoked and grilled meats using salt, essential seasoning, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, brown sugar, and ground chilly pepper.

3. Lobster rolls


Lobster rolls:  A specialty in the Northeastern United States native to New England and Atlantic Canada, made of lobster meat served in a buttered toasted bun, in hot dog style. The filling may contain lemon juice, butter, minced celery, minced chives, salt, and freshly ground pepper and for  New England, they replace the butter with mayonnaise, other versions may contain diced celery, for the accompaniment potato chips or french fries are perfect.

Both soft bread and Hawaiian bread can be used in this recipe. 


4. Poutine:


Poutine, A Canadian specialty that consists of french fries topped with cheese curds and smothered in gravy, the origin of this dish is quite unceretain, it appeared about 1950 in the center of Quebec, but in 1957 a restaurant named le Roy Jucepe owner Jean-Paul Roy added a magical touched he combined the combo in one and the name was in the beginning “Fromage potate sauce” but it felt to be too long a name so later it was changed to Poutine for the cook's nickname “T-pou”.

5. Tex-Mex cuisine: 


Tex-Mex cuisine, the original history started in Southen Texas it is the birthplace, Tex Mex food dating back to the late 1800 and it became known wildly with the building of the Texas-Mexican Railway.Tejano's home technique of cooking quickly gained popularity throughout Texas and spread across the Southwest.

 Tex-Mex cuisine features dishes like tacos, burritos, cheddar Jack cheese, cilantro, steak fajitas, beans, and chili con carne with bold flavors and spices.

6. Cuban sandwich: Cubano



 Cuban sandwich, or "Cubano," is a variation of a ham, ( mojo) roasted pork, and  cheese sandwich that likely originated in cafes catering to Cuban workers in Tampa where is a large Italian population, but is not usually included in south Florida or Key West. It typically includes ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and sometimes salami on Cuban bread.

The sandwich has been a Cuban tradition since the early 1500s. before Cuban cigar makers came to Tampa, they lived in Key West, Florida. Cubans also had the ham which was brought by the Spaniards., and the cheese which was also brought by the Spaniards.


7. Chicken Fried Steak:
 


Chicken fried steak, represents the rich culinary history of the southern United States in the late 19th century, while its exact origins are debated, chicken fried steak is thought to have been brought to Texas by German immigrants, and continues to be a popular dish enjoyed by many to this day. It is a dish consisting of pieces of chicken streaks (most often tenderized cube steak) coated with seasoned flour and fried untill crispy. It is similar to the preparation of fried chicken, hence the name. It's often served with creamy gravy, mashed potatoes, and vegetables.

8. Mac and Cheese: 




Macaroni and cheese, the origin back to 14s brought by Italian immigrants,  is a classic comfort traditional food dish made from macaroni pasta and a cheese sauce usually is cheddar cooked in a casserole, and baked in the oven to get the golden color on the top, it can be made from scratch or from a boxed kit.
Later the béchamel sauce was incorporated with the cheese to create the Mornay sauce for Americans it is a comfort dish easy to make and tasty.

9. Buffalo Chicken Wings:



Buffalo chicken wings are a popular American appetizer made by deep-frying chicken wings and then tossing them in a sauce made from a base of hot sauce and butter. They are traditionally served with celery sticks and blue cheese or ranch dressing.
This creation of the dish came out from New York restaurant in 60’s by Terressa Bellissino, who covered them with her special sauce and served them with blue cheese and celery, there are other stories about the origin of the dish but mostly this is the real story is this.

The magical Buffalo sauce is made of cayenne pepper hot sauce, melted butter and vinegar.


10. Hotdog:



A hotdog is a cooked sausage, traditionally grilled or steamed and served in a sliced bun. Typical garnishes include mustard, ketchup, onions, mayonnaise, relish, sauerkraut, and cheese. The origin of this dish is from German immigrants sold them with milk roll and sauerkraut in a pushcart in New York city during 1860. Then later in 1871 a German baker “ Charles Faltman” opened the first Coney Island hotdog stand then it became very famous.


11. Meatloaf:

   



Meatloaf came from Europe to America with the immigrants from Germany living in Pennsylvania who brought their homemade recipe and influenced cooking. It is a dish of ground meat mixed with other ingredients and formed into a loaf shape, then baked or smoked. The meatloaf is usually sliced and served hot or cold alone or with mashed potatoes.

11. Apple Pie
 


Apple pie is a classic dessert and symbol of United States, it's made with a crust that encases a filling of cooked and sweetened apples. It can be topped with ice cream or whipped cream.
Its origins came from Europe in 14Th century, it has been broughtby immigrants from England, France, Germany, and Sweden.



12. Navajo Taco
  


Navajo taco,  are a variation of the traditional taco served on indian frybread instead of a tortilla. The frybread is topped with various ingredients like ground beef, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.The the history behind this dish and the importance of the Navajo taco is a sad story, the Indian who lived in Arizona in 1864 were forced to leave and moved to new Mexico walking by foot 300 miles this day was know as ‘the long walk’, where they were to resettle.

13. Tsu Ya Ga

   

Tsu Ya Ga is a traditional fried bread exactly bean bread in English belonging to the Cherokee Indian native American tribes often enjoyed honey, beans, or other local ingredients. The Tsu Ya Ga dish has many healthy benefit, the main one: it is like detox, it will clean your body from toxic.


14. Apache Stew:
   


The Apache are several Southern Athabaskan language speaking people of the Southern, the Southern Plains and Northern Mexico.They are linguistically related to the Navajo. they migrated from the Athabascan homelands in the north into the southwest between 1000and 1500 CE.

Apache stew is a hearty and traditional dish made by the Apache tribe, typically featuring a variety of meats and vegetables like corn, squash, and beans.

15. Cheyenne Chicken



Cheyenne chicken is a dish inspired by Native American cuisine, often featuring chicken cooked with traditional herbs and spices, along with ingredients like corn or beans. Most of the time chicken fried or it called country fried both are the same.e era



16. Wild Rice and Berries
 


Wild Rice and Berries, Wild rice and berries is a traditional Native American Menominee tribe dish utilizing wild rice, a staple food, often mixed with a variety of berries and sometimes sweetened and served as a side or dessert in ceremonies and feasts.
