The Middle East is renowned for its rich and diverse culinary traditions, and been here for 15 years now, feeling lucky that I have access to this amazing culture, the food is amazing and the people are very kind and friendly, when I posted the World Foodie’s Excursion, I felt that something is missing, because the middle is not there, so I decided to makes special post for that.

Here are some of the top and best Middle Eastern foodie’s Excursion that I selected for you:

 1. Hummus:

A creamy blend of chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic, hummus is a versatile dip that's a staple in Middle Eastern cuisine. It's often served with pita bread, and vegetables, or used as a spread in sandwiches, the standard garnish in the Middle East is olive oil, a few chickpeas with paprika and it is part of a mezza platter.



 2. Falafel:

These deep-fried balls or patties made from ground chickpeas or fava beans are a popular street food. They're typically served in pita bread with salad, pickles, and tahini sauce.



 3. Shawarma:

Thinly sliced meat (often lamb, chicken, or beef) roasted on a vertical spit and served in a wrap or pita bread with garlic sauce, tahini, pickles, and vegetables, originally from the Ottoman cuisine.



4. Tabbouleh:

A fresh, vibrant salad made with finely chopped parsley, mint, tomatoes, onions, bulgur wheat, and dressed with lemon juice and olive oil, usaly is part of mezza platter.



5. Baba Ganoush:

A smoky, creamy dip made from roasted eggplant, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. It is often enjoyed with pita bread or as part of a mezze platter.

Baba Ganoush is named Mutabal in Lebanese.



6. Kebabs:

Grilled skewers of meat (commonly lamb, chicken, or beef) seasoned with a variety of spices. Kebabs can be served with rice, salad, or bread, originally is a Persian term that past I to Arabic Kenab and Turkish Kenap.

 


7. Mansaf:

A traditional Jordanian dish made with lamb cooked in a sauce of fermented dried yogurt and served over rice or bulgur. It is often garnished with pine nuts and almonds.


 8. Dolma:

Grape leaves stuffed with a mixture of rice, pine nuts, and herbs. They can be served warm or cold and sometimes include meat, the name is originally from the Ottoman cuisine.



9. Baklava:

A rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo dough filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey. It's a popular dessert throughout the Middle East, and it is originally from Ottoman cuisine.

The name is different: in Arabic Baklawa and Balawa.


10. Fattoush

A bread salad made with toasted or fried pieces of pita bread combined with mixed greens and other vegetables, such as tomatoes and radishes, dressed with a tangy sumac and lemon vinaigrette.



11. Labneh

A thick, creamy strained yogurt cheese, often served with olive oil and za'atar (a spice blend), and eaten with bread or used as a dip.


12. Kofta

Ground meat (usually lamb or beef) mixed with spices, herbs, and onions, formed into balls or patties, and grilled or baked.


13. Maqluba

A savory dish where rice, vegetables, and meat are cooked together and then flipped upside down to serve, revealing a beautiful layered presentation.


14. Muhammara

A rich, slightly spicy dip made from roasted red peppers, walnuts, pomegranate molasses, and breadcrumbs, commonly served with bread or as part of a mezze spread.


15. Kunafa

A dessert made with shredded filo pastry (kataifi) and layered with a sweet cheese filling, then soaked in a sweet syrup and often topped with pistachios.




16. Shawa ( Oman)

Shuwa is roasted meat cooked in a special oven, a pit underground.The meat is rubbed with spices then it is wrapped in dry banana or palm leaves, placed in sacks and cooked in an oven until tender.


17. Mahashi: 

Mahshi is a dish of vegetables stuffed with rice, meat, onion and spices, a traditional dish from the ancient Ottoman Empire



18. Chicken Mandi  (Yamen):

Chicken Mandi is a traditional and popular Arabian dish where chicken or Lamb cooked Underground Oven, rice, and Arabic spices are carefully cooked to create a perfectly seasoned and aromatic dish. It’s packed with flavor,


19.Boukhari Saoudia:

A Saudi Arabian speciality, bukhari rice is fragrant rice loaded with flavours and mixed spices. The dish which has its origin in Afghanistan is usually served with perfectly cooked roast chicken. The difference in this rice is the way is cooked and the chicken is steamed (boukhar)



20. What is Mezza?

Mezza or mazza is a platter if : Hummus, Lebnah, Muhammara and Baba Ganoush, you may add some olives, goat cheese, eggs and Beans. 

This dish you find it in the menu for Arabic breakfast or could be for the Branch.

Mezza is mostly famous in Arabic Cuisine.





These dishes showcase the diverse flavors and ingredients of Middle Eastern cuisine. They reflect the rich cultural and historical influences of the region. Some dishes are original to specific countries like Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, KSA, Oman and Yamen,  while others are from Ottoman cuisine. Each country has added its own spices and unique touch to the dishes.
